Hello, My former wife was married to me from 1964-1981.
I retired at age 65 in 2000. I get 1180 a month plus medicare.

My former wife remarried about 1987 and divorced about 2005.

She applied for social security, I don't know if against the years she worked, about 1978 to about 2005 or if she applied against her former husbands earnings.
She says that get about 350 a month plus 400 in support from her second husband.

She has been advised, she says, that if she applies against my social securty she will get around 800 a month.

I believe, if she can apply against me, she can only get a maximum of half the amount I get in social security.

She has asked me for documents proving marriage and divorce with me.

Can she re-apply and get about half of what I get?

If she could would it affect my benefits?

Or, can she apply against her second husband? -whom I don't know if he is on SS or not.

My phone is 954 270 4827

Thank you,

NM

Uncontested divorce is one of the cheapest and simplest forms of divorce available but if there are things that you cannot agree on try to get a mediator first before you file a contested divorce.
